She’s very sweet and a little odd. She was born in our neighbors garage with four brothers who all found homes. The family had a secret ballot and all voted to keep her. Her brother Maru lives around the corner and so does her mother. Too many kids and noise in the house and they found the cat lady who feeds them chicken instead of cat food. Well, I can’t get Carmela to come inside. She loves the porch and under the house and I’ve seen her run into the sewer and hang out with racoons. We also have dogs and she deplores them – I think this is why she will not come in. She doesn’t like the street sweeper truck either. But she has an adoring fan base who walk by the house and baby-talk her, take pictures, someone even brought her a bed – but she won’t use it. I’ve put blankets out there and she won’t sleep in them. And she even has a lady who brings her food, even though we feed her too. But we are moving out of town I’m afraid she is going to freak out, get out of the house and run away and try to find the only home she’s known. She’s an older girl, but no health issues. And I’ll be so happy to know if she can stay in Alameda, and has a caretaker who loves her for all her quirkiness.
