We adopted Myrtle 4 years ago and think she’s 5-6 years old. We have loved having her in our family, but our toddler just loves her way too roughly. We’ve spent a year trying to teach her to be gentle, but she continues to make Myrtle miserable (who is being endlessly patient with the toddler). We have another baby on the way and feel that she deserves a better life than this!
Myrtle is very sweet and chill and adapts to your level of socializing and cuddling (the more attentive, the more she velcros to you). She has been an indoor/outdoor cat with us, but I’m sure she would be cool with staying indoors if that’s preferred. She’s not a picky eater whatsoever and happily eats any kibble you put in front of her and uses the litter box in the basement with no problems. She’s a quiet cat and really only meows when she’s stuck somewhere or sometimes in the morning for food.
We don’t really know what her thoughts are on living with other pets, besides retreating when the occasional dog has visited our house. Kids that are slightly older and better at gentle touch than our 2 year old should be fine.
