Rhiannon (aka Rhi-Rhi aka our little Muppet Monster) is a special-needs cat, approximately 7 years old, looking for a calm home to spend the rest of her days. Due to some on-going medical challenges, she would do best with an experienced cat owner who knows how to read body language. We adopted her during Covid to prevent her from being euthanized, but we think she would do better in a home with fewer pets than we have.
Rhiannon is a rescue who has been learning to trust her long-term foster parents over the last year. She’s made great progress, opening up to receiving pets and being brushed, but she can still startle easily. She would benefit from living with someone who can read cat body language well and provide her space when requested. When she’s in the mood, she loves to give gentle face sniffs, get a good brushing, and of course receive some good chin and ear scratches. If pushed when not in the mood, she will give a vocal warning and may strike; however, she is not an aggressive cat and will never attack anyone without provocation.
Her two absolute favorite things in the world are lounging in afternoon sunny spots and her crinkled paper ball. Rhiannon spends most of the day dozing, but as soon as she hears the rustle of her paper ball, she is at the ready to play a very slow game of fetch. She truly carries one of her many crinkled balls with her everywhere she goes and back to her bed before snuggling up to nap again.
While Rhiannon still has a playful side, she is mildly arthritic and a bit wobbly when she moves around. She has also been diagnosed with megacolon and takes some medications to help stimulate her bowel movements. She takes her medications easily mixed into wet food (no fuss). She has co-housed with 3 other cats in her foster home, and they have learned to tolerate one another, though they usually keep their distance. She would likely do best in a home without other pets and with children over 10 years old who know how to give her space when necessary.
Though she has her challenges, Rhiannon is a wonderful spirit, and we have fallen so in-love with her during her time with us. We hope to find her a perfect match with someone who is excited to provide a comfortable home to a cat who has been dealt a tough hand.
Rhiannon is vaccinated, tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia, and is microchipped.
